A New Feature to Discover and Engage with Popular Content on BlueSky

BlueSky, a popular social network with over 25 million users worldwide, has announced that it is testing a new feature called "Trending Topics". This feature allows users to discover and engage with the most popular content on the platform. According to BlueSky, Trending Topics are currently available in English and can be accessed by both desktop and mobile app users.

How to Access Trending Topics

On the desktop version of BlueSky, you can find trending topics in the right sidebar. To access them on the mobile app, simply tap on the search button at the top of the screen. This will take you to a new page where you can see the most popular topics and hashtags.

Disabling Trending Topics

If you’re not interested in seeing trending topics, don’t worry! You can easily disable this feature by going to Settings > Content and Media. From there, simply uncheck the "Enable trending topics" option to turn it off.

How BlueSky is Ensuring Relevant Content

BlueSky has made sure that content you don’t want to see won’t be visible in the trending topics. The platform carries over your muted words and phrases from your settings, so if you’ve already muted certain keywords or hashtags, they won’t appear in the trending topics.

Improvements Ahead

This is just the first version of the Trending Topics feature on BlueSky, and the company plans to improve it further. As more users start using this feature, the algorithm will learn and adapt to provide even more relevant content.

Not the Only One: Other Social Media Platforms with Similar Features

BlueSky’s rival platform, Threads, has been testing trending topics for some time now. In fact, they started rolling out the feature to all U.S. users in March and began testing it in Japan in October.

Third-Party Clients Already Supporting Trending Topics

It’s worth noting that third-party clients like Graysky have already implemented the trending topics feature last year, showing that there is a demand for this type of content on social media platforms.

BlueSky’s User Base Continues to Grow

With over 25 million users worldwide, BlueSky has established itself as a major player in the social media landscape. The introduction of Trending Topics is another step towards making the platform more engaging and user-friendly.

The Future of Social Media: Discovering New Content

As social media platforms continue to evolve, features like trending topics will play an increasingly important role in helping users discover new content and stay up-to-date with what’s popular. BlueSky’s implementation of this feature is a step in the right direction towards creating a more engaging and user-friendly experience for its users.
